Editorial Comment | Is it actually used by real people? It seems to be either a fake name of a television character or (from Google images) given to dogs and rabbits. |

Reading 1 | ほうそうべいはん |
Part-of-speech | n |
English 1 | cooked rice pack |

Comment | These cooked rice packs are prepared sterilely so that they can be stored for months at room temperature. A 200 gram pack can be heated in a microwave oven in 2 minutes. Although the Wikipedia article appears to claim that they were invented in 1987, I first became aware of them about 1997, and they are now available in practically every Japanese supermarket. |

Editorial Comment | I put that on after your suggestion (22 Mar.) Putting "uk" on sense 1 sort-of implies that all senses are uk, so I wanted to avoid that impression. |
