Current Entry別品;別嬪 [べっぴん] /(n) (vulg) beautiful woman/beauty/pretty girl/ (1603270)
Headword 1別嬪
Headword 2別品
Reading 1べっぴん
Part-of-speechn
English 1(1) beautiful woman
English 2beauty
English 3pretty girl
English 4(2) (別品 only) high-quality goods
Commentall japanese dictionaries keep 別嬪 and 別品 apart, with 別品 as an x-ref to 別嬪, probably because 別品 is more strongly associated with "high-quality goods".

if kept together, they'd look like this. any reference to this being "vulgar"?

Commentthis is not an amendment or new submission, but a comment about search results. i rarely use this dictionary for english-japanese translations because a whole host of obscure word compounds arise before the simple definition i sought does.
for example, i enter "run" into the search field, and the first 10 results are all such things as "to dispatch", "home-run", "a stocking run" - when all i am looking for is "走る".
would it be difficult to create an algorithm for simple vs. complex definitions, or a graduated system where simple nouns/verbs get priority over compound ones?

despite this inefficiency, i still use your site regularly. i am also impressed by the new audio clip libarary.

Editorial Comment This is well-known and documented in the Users Guide. If you select the common words and exact-match options, you may get a better result. At least it brings 走る closer to the front.

Current Entry悪計 [あくけい;あっけい] /(n) plot/trick/evil scheme/ (1575710)
Headword 1悪計
Reading 1あっけい
Part-of-speechn
English 1plot
English 2trick
English 3evil scheme
Commentあっけい in all dictionaries. i see no evidence of this being read as あくけい, except on a handful of archaic pages, so this is (ok) at the very, very best

incidentally, this is an with a jpod101 reading. they read it as あくけい. so if the reading is removed (as it probably should be) is there a procedure in place for having the audio clip removed or updated?

Editorial Comment The あくけい was in Nelson (2nd reading). I think plain old 五十音 led to it coming first here. I'll warn the 101 people.
