That submission is helpful. However, the entry is described only as "aux-v". I wondered about the "adj-t" element which you had suggested. Also, I wondered about how the general comment by Rene that "... you can add たる to the end of pretty much anything to make it into that kind of descriptor" was included in an adjectival sense for the novice. I believe that it is Rene's sweeping statement [as quoted] about the usage which fully carries the message to the novice about the versatility of this headword. However, that simple flavour of versatility, whilst included, seems a little lost in the more formal wording. I am not quite sure about this in context, but perhaps we are into adjectival clauses. Bear in mind that "adj-t" means that the entry can take a たる to turn it into a noun-modifier (and a と to make it an adverb). That XXたる is really a type of noun-modifying verb, just as な-adjective used be verbs a long time ago (which is why they are called 形容動詞.) |
