I did try to submit this the other day, but it did not appear so perhaps I did something wrong. However, if it did appear somewhere, I'm sorry for wasting your time. This time I removed my amendment just in case that was the cause. |
Comment | When one examines the kanji on your site for this entry, both the KUN readings for "×ü" and "Øö" show "¤¯". However, when used in the actual entry "×ü" shows "¤°"and "Øö" shows "¤¯".
This is matched by other dictionaries. Also your audio clip actually gives only "¤¤°". Presumably, then, the sound of "¤¤°" is the standard usage. However, when one looks for clues in a kanji dictionary one gets only "¤¯" and, then, when one searches for combined readings in an ordinary dictionary one looks in the wrong place. Fortunately, on your site, either "¤¤°" or "¤¤¯" leads the searcher to this entry. So, if I enter "¤¤¯" and get to the site and think 'That's odd, the main reading is "¤¤°" '. Then I check my kanji book again and also look up the kanji on your site to examine the entry, all show only "¤¯" for "×ü" and "Øö". In a case like this, where the sound does not seem [to me, anyway] to change in any usual way, I wonder if an "ik" should be included to indicate what seems like an irregular, but normal reading. Or , perhaps that is what is meant by a reading restriction. P.S. With regard to "¤¿¤ë", I hope that I did not give the impression that I thought that Rene was incorrect with regard to the auxiliary verb. I was just trying to make the point that the useful comments made by both you and Rene in your earlier comments hit the novice with the flavour of the versatility in respect of this entry which, in the formal outcome, did not quite come through in the same way. Perhaps that is the difference between informal chatting compared to drafting legal documents. The former often leaves a sense of understanding, whereas the latter may lead to further head scratching. |

No prior amendment arrived. I think you'll just have to regard this one
as another example of the irregularity of readings in Japanese. Ï¢Âù is
always a pain.
Looking at Rene'scomments on tomorrow's page, I see that ´í¶ó is orphaned by badly-done restrictions. I agree with his suggestion that ´íØö/¤¤¯ be split off from the rest. |
