CommentI have never heard of this English idiom before - the only references to it on Google seem to trace back to WWWJDIC... is this from the Tanaka corpus? Mickle is as far as I know only used in Scotland to mean "a lot". Even then, it still doesn't make sense.

I think a better translation from seeing it used in context would be "It's hard to tell a poor thinker from a sleeping one." What do you think?

Editorial Comment I really think that batch is better in the Tanaka corpus. Paul Blay no longer edits. The corpus. Francis Bond is going to take it over, but he's not able to do it just yet.
