| Comment | "下野" is, I understand, a province so I am not sure whether there is any connection with that. However, a Japanese writer, when describing places in England for Japanese readers, was referring to flowers along a river bank. He referred to one plant and gave the reading as "しもつけそう" and then in brackets stated that it was the flower "meadow sweet".
