New Entries/Amendments for 2009-06-07

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.
Annotations completed: 9 June.
Current Entry幕開け [まくあけ] /(n) beginning/opening (of play)/(P)/ (1524780)
Headword 1幕開け
Reading 1まくあけ
Part-of-speechn
English 1beginning
English 2opening (of play)
CommentI thought this was merely a variant of 幕開き and have just found some support for that idea here:

http://www.nhk.or.jp/a-room/kininaru/2006/10/1019.html

So, i think it should be cross-referenced to the entry for 幕開き - could you add a field for such a cross-reference exactly as it exists in the "new entry/amendment" form? Or can the two entries be combined?

Editorial Comment Some dictionaries have one just an xref to the other. I'll add xrefs and standardize the explanations.

CommentThat entry would benefit from having a cross reference to 極め付きの品... :-)

This is the one that started the chain reaction leading to this cluster of postings: i stumbled over "guaranteed (article)", which i think is not clear or could be misundertsoof, thus the proposed refinement...

CommentOn the Yahoo dictionary page, I'm not familiar enough with the words in definitions 11 and 12 to come up with good English versions. Since there aren't enough lines for English meanings above, the continuation is below:

(7) to slightly change headings, to change directions
(8) to extract by broiling, to prepare an infusion of, to decoct
(9) to carry with great vigor (e.g., a portable shrine)
(10) to bring up the main topic
(11) to replace, to substitute

CommentAddendum (in regards to my previous submission):

There are other English expressions used in laws and proclamations that would also fit under the added point 8, such as "has/have the purpose of", "is/are intended to", "is/are aimed at" "serves the purpose of", etc.

Headword 1モラルハラスメント
Part-of-speechn
English 1moral harassment
English 2workplace mobbing
English 3workplace bullying
English 4psychological harassment at the workplace
ReferenceThe previously mentioned Ishigaki City Bylaw on the Promotion of Gender Equality (June 1, 2009) - here we find the followinfg definition: モラルハラスメント 言葉や態度、身振りや文書などによって、働く人間の人格や尊厳を傷つけたり、身体的、精神的に傷を負わせて、その人間が職場を辞めざるを得ない状況に追い込んだり、職場の雰囲気を悪化させることをいう。

Furthermore, various websites, such as
http://www.sosfemmes.com/english_harassment/harassment_5_moral.htm
http://www.ilo.org/public/english/dialogue/actrav/publ/133/1.pdf
http://www.bc.edu/schools/law/lawreviews/meta-elements/journals/bciclr/27_2/10_TXT.htm
CommentIt appears that "moral harassment" is distinguished from "power harassment" by the fact that the harasser is not in a defined or structurally founded position of power (i.e., a superior) but any individual or group at the workplace that engages in such behaviour.
