Comment | This headword gets over 500K hits on Google and I wonder if it could be included in the main dictionary as opposed to only in "LS" (which has to be found on a secondary search).
This headword has been better described in the following entry, but the following entry does not include the reading:- 数分間 【?】 for a few minutes; for a number of minutes; for a period of a few minutes; for several minutes; WI2. It seems to me that a promotion would create a better option and also eliminate the unnecessary repetition, which is now present in the incomplete "work in progress" entries. I am also wondering, as a matter of interest, why the useful Tanaka Corpus sample sentences which come up with clicking on (EX) do not have the ひらがな for the whole sentence written underneath. I believe that the including of the ひらがな at this point would be a tremendous help to the novice. Of course, the novice can click on the (T) and get some help, but often the novice is still left with a selection of readings from which to choose. I am not suggesting that the ひらがな under the sentence should be used instead of the fuller details obtain by clicking on (T), but rather in addition to that. This suggestion would, a least, leave the novice with being able, with certainty, to read aloud [or silently] the whole of the sample sentence; with the sure knowledge that such useful practice is inline with the correct Japanese. Thus, consequently, avoiding the potential bad habit of incorrect reading when studying alone. Indeed, if your newly included oral readings, now available on the main entries, were also extended to the sample sentences, that would be fantastic. However, I recognize that adopting this suggestion may be unrealistic in terms of implementation. Indeed, I am continually amazed at the vast amount of work already put into this extremely useful site. |
