CommentI am not sure about this matter.

The word "ateji (romanized)" is used in many entries as a code for the type of entry. However, when one wants to find out what "ateji" means, its meaning in context does not seem to be easily found. If one enters "ateji" in the search box, one only ends up with the other entries where it is used as the code.

I am wondering if the main entry above could include the romanized "ateji" so that the search will lead also to the above entry. Or, in the alternative, perhaps the hiragana form of "あてじ" could be used as the code.

Perhaps, of course, I may be completely off the real point; in which case, my apologies.

Editorial Comment Yes, to find out the meaning of a Japanese word, entering it in Japanese, e.g. "あてじ" is a good idea. 8-)}

Headword 1メンタリティー
Part-of-speechn
English 1mentality
ReferenceSee below.
CommentPerhaps I am not seeing the obvious. However, when I search for "メンタリテイー", I get the message partial match only, search all dictionaries. However, the partial match seems to equal my search. And, when I click on search all, I get the same result. Perhaps, I should use a different key for "ー".

The message was as follows:-

Search Key: メンタリテ Current Dictionary: Combined Jpn-Eng
Partial match - original key: メンタリテイー. [G][S][A] Propose a new entry for メンタリテイー, or search all dictionaries. Options:[G]oogle search, [GI] Google images, [S]anseido dictionary, [A]LC dictionary (Eijiro), [Ex]ample sentences, [V]erb conjugations, [F] Feedback, Japanese[W]ikipedia.

Editorial Comment If you look up "メンタリテ", you will not get an exact match because that identical string is not present in any file. The best match is メンタリテイー. Did you actually search for "メンタリテイー"? You say you did, but the example you quoted was just "メンタリテ".

English 1Scoring combination (in mahjong or card games)
Referencehttp://www.owari.ne.jp/~snowbird/rules/cribbage.htm
http://www.geocities.jp/shepherd_1939/ma-jyan.htm
CommentThis is a word which, quite surprisingly, there is no good English for.
A "yaku" is a sort of scoring configuration, such as "chin'itsu" in mahjong, or "sankou" in the hanafuda game koi-koi. One Western card game which has "yaku" is cribbage, as points are scored for fifteens, pairs, and runs. These would be called "yaku" in Japanese.
