CommentFirst, I am abliged for you accommodating comments in respect of my error on "冒瀆". Public exposure of a failing is a great trainer; and kind understanding a welcome benefit.

I fear that I may be stepping into a similar exposure on this submission because when an expert calls for assistance, namely: "Anyone have a stab at the English meanings? ", I have to wonder if I have missed the point.

In shogakukan, it gives a meaning as "Don't be so foolish; you are no longer a child." for the Japanese statement, "子供ではあるまいし、ばかなまねはするな"

This similar expression ends with a "し" and not "に" so maybe that is where the problem arises. However, shogakukan shows "の形で" and "...ではないのに" and "...でないから" in the context of ”まい”, and then follows it with the above example.

I have entered a meaning above and I hope that is helpful.

Editorial Comment Thanks for the stab. I'm not sure it actually fits in. My problem is that the equivalences Hendrik gave (ではないのだから/ではないのに) don't seem to have context-independent meanings - they depend on what preceded them.
