Headword 1桜貝
Reading 1さくらがい
Reading 2サクラガイ
Part-of-speechn
English 1(uk) Nitidotellina nitidula (species of tellin)
CommentNitidotellina nitidula or Nitidotellina hokkaidoensis according to all sources

e.g. Nitidotellina nitidula in Yahoo!百科事典

so the original common names are wrong, as is Tellina carpenteri for this species

Editorial Comment GG5 has "a kind of carpenter's tellin; Nitidotellina nitidula." Is that ""a kind of carpenter's tellin" wrong? Also, the ルミナス和英辞典 has "貝〕 (ニッコウガイ) Japanese 「sunrise [sunset] shell [C]; (ピンク色のニッコウガイ) pink tellin". Are those common names all off too? Should we have an entry for ニッコウガイ?

Headword 1しっこ
Part-of-speechn
Misccol
English 1wee-wee; pee-pee; number one
English 2(vs) to urinate
Cross-referenceおしっこ
CommentJust adding this since i think that even if a word is commonly used with "お" it should be in the dictionary in its plain form, as well.
In fact, i think that for every expression occurring in the two forms "xyz" and "おxyz" there should only be one entry in the dictionary that subsumes both forms. ;-)

Editorial Comment Your suggestion about the お- form has been discussed a lot. For now, as there is a headword/reading match requirement, having the お/ご/御 version included makes it a horrible mess, so we have separate entries cross-referenced.

Current Entryではあるまいに /(exp) (arch) = ではないのに /TempSUB/
Headword 1ではあるまいに
Part-of-speechexp
English 1(arch) = ではないのに
English 2TempSUB
CommentJim had written:
> the equivalences Hendrik gave (ではないのだから/ではないのに) don't
> seem to have context-independent meanings - they depend on what
> preceded them

Indeed - that is why i didn't even attempt to render them in English. Not
everybody who can make sense of ではないのに necessarily knows the old
expression ではあるまいに; for them my entry is useful. OTOH, people who
don't even know how to deal with ではないのに won't need any of our English
suggestions (which would at best be rather incomplete hints) but a course in
Japanese 101. ;-)

Editorial Comment Exactly. That's why I'm struggling. I'll leave them in for now.
