Editorial Comment Two things:
(a) PLEASE use the cross-reference field in the form instead of just putting "(see ...)" at the end of the gloss. It puts the information in the right place for automatic handling. Writing at the end means I have to cut and paste it.
(b) In line with other single-kanji country abbreviations, the reading would be just "ぎ".

Editorial Comment やめる can mean "to resign", but usually is written as 辞める/罷める or occasionally 止める/已める. 退 does not have a KUN reading of や. However there is WWW evidence for 退める, plus a lot of commentary that it is a wrong usage. I'll add it to 辞める/罷める with an "iK" tag.
