The 吝しむ, therefore, should be given an (ik) reference. When I tried to incorporate that adjacent the headword 2, your system said that I cannot put non-Japanese in those boxes. I was not sure where else I could enter (ik) so that it followed the correct headword. Perhaps also a cross-reference to the "吝い" would balance up the relationship. | Editorial Comment | Apart from Miller, none of my refs have 吝しむ for 惜しむ. Koujien has 愛しむ I see. All seems plausible. It would be "oK", i.e. old/obsolete kanji; not "ik" (incorrect kana). Editing has to be done by hand, so put requests to add tags such as "oK" in the comments. I don't see why an xref would help. |

ませる (etc.) See: 増す I have tried to make a submission to add to that entry, but the system does not accept any amendment. Therefore, I had to make a new entry to get through. Mostly, my references only give the reading as above, but some show a base as 老成る[ませる], which I expect comes from 老成の [ろうせいの] and 老成する [ろうせいする]. Roy Miller also picks it up at 59(23) in the form of "ませている" with the translation of "... doing things somewhat mature for one's age." |
