CommentI'd really like to throw the "mutual/reciprocal love" translation out. While often the case, it doesn't really match the Japanese word, which describes a couple that is.. well, head over heels for each other.

CommentFollowing up on (and amending) Rene Malenfant's amendment proposal:

I agree with putting ど田舎 first, since it is the most common form. But
methinks there is a sufficient number of Googits for each of the shown kanji
versions to include those, as well (the cost is minimal, after all). ;-) I would
not use "iK" (in this case i don't think we have incontrovertible evidence that
all those NJS using one of those kanji are mistaken), but i don't care if you
mark them as obscure or such. ;-)

Editorial Comment Hmmm. 超田舎/度田舎/怒田舎 are pretty unusual. I think they need some tags - either ateji or iK.

Headword 1北西航路
Reading 1ほくせいこうろ

English 1Northwest Passage (sea route along the north coast of Canada)
CommentI've added the explanatory comment (in parentheses), to reduce the possibility
of confusion with the term "Northeast Passage", which, thanks to global
warming, will be in the news more often from now on (and not everybody in the
world would automatically understand that the directions implied by these
expressions are based on a European perspective).

Current Entryど田舎;怒田舎 [どいなか] /(n) (see ど) remote countryside/boondocks/the sticks/
Headword 1ど田舎
Headword 2怒田舎
Reading 1どいなか
Part-of-speechn
English 1(see ど) remote countryside
English 2boondocks
English 3the sticks
Commentthe ど in ど田舎--supposedly derived from どう in old japanese--is etymologically unrelated to 怒, 度, and certainly 超. that makes them (ateji) at the very least, or rather (iK) in my opinion--i don't put much stock in the way people write things on the web (i.e. when "athiest" gets about half a million hits)

plus, i guess i'm a fan of prescriptive dictionaries

CommentThis is, as far a my searches show, the name of the thief in 芥川龍之介の短編『藪の中』. I have not read the book myself, but I am picking up references to it in some other text and I was searching for confirmation of the reading of the name on your site. It was not there, but searching around some more, and seeing its wide use [see Google] I believe that it may be useful to include it.

I have used "male given name" because that seems right.
