imo, 'settle down' doesn't really match the usage of the word in these contexts 数年後、ヨーロッパ人たちは沿岸の植民地に住み着いた。 Years after Europeans settled the coastal colonies. その部族の民はその川沿いに住み着いた。 Members of that tribe settled along the river. |

Editorial Comment | The approach I have followed for years is a "two-out-of-three" principle for merging (kanji, reading, meaning). It gets complicated when there are multiple readings or meanings which don't all match a kanji part. In the case of 魂/魄/霊:soul/spirit two of the three are there. All are read たま but 魂/魄 as たましい/だましい is the common form. I could break it into 魂;魄 [たましい;だましい;たま] and 霊 [たま] but I think I like to keep the strong "clumper" flavour. |

Comment | With reference to my submission about "辞海", you made a comment that "... which agrees with the 広辞宛 entry ..."
I turned to that entry for clarification and discovered that, like "辞海" had existed before my submission, "広辞宛" too is also an "RH" entry so I guess that there is some agreement there, but I do not suppose that was the agreement to which you referred [sorry if that sounds cheeky!]. I see on Google searches that you have been having exchanges with others about things related to "広辞宛" and I am wondering if this entry is awaiting a change or whether I should do some more digging and try to make a submission. Perhaps I have slipped-off the lines and missed the real point. In which case, please accept my apologies [there is always the danger in making flippant comments, like I have made above, only to discover that feeling of egg on one's face; however, either way, it makes the learning process more interesting]. |

There's 口角力(こうかくりょく) for which I can find barely two google hits: http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/aristos300/diary/?ctgy=2 http://summy.exblog.jp/i30/ It refers to the strength of one's corners of the mouth. With only two actual google hits I'm not even sure it's worth its own entry, because it's a simple combination of 口角 and 力. Then there's 口相撲(くちずもう) which is probably best explained by this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGROydd1Drw I leave it to you to figure out how to fix these entries ;-) |

Comment | I vote for the deletion of this entry. All adjectives that end with 〜しい can be spoken 〜すぃ in lazy speech (おいすぃー etc.).
There's also a recent trend of swapping the last い for す, for example オイシス, カワイス or even カワユス.. None of these qualify as dictionary entries IMHO. |
