Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Current Entryけり /(aux-v) (1) indicates recollection or realization (i.e. of hearsay or the past)/(2) indicates continuation from the past to the present/(3) (also written with the ateji 鳧) end/conclusion/ (2089610)
Headword 1けり
Part-of-speechaux-v
English 1(1) indicates recollection or realization (i.e. of hearsay or the past)
English 2(2) indicates continuation from the past to the present
English 3(3) (also written with the ateji 鳧) end

CommentWhile I believe sense #1 hints at it, I think that it should be explicitly mentioned that in classical/archaic Japanese and even in some modern Japanese works, this verb suffix is used to explicitly form the past tense (especially with copula verbs) in a poetic way. Sometimes, in storytelling, you will encounter an opening line such as:
昔、...ありけり。
While it could be considered the narrator's "recollection" of the past, clearly the intent is to say "Once, there was/were..." in a poetic way. I do not think a layperson is going to automatically associate "past tense" with "recollection" of the past. I am not sure how you would want to handle it, however, but I do think some clarification is needed.

Editorial Comment I added "can form a poetic past tense" to sense 1, but I'm quite out of my depth.

Editorial Comment No, the ともしび reading is common too. I agree it's a bit messy.
