| Comment | With regard to Name's comment on my submission for the above, I should perhaps say again that I had read the passage in the same way that Name had suggested that it should be read; but with one difference.
I had taken the "の" at the end to be a question marker, whereas, Name had taken it to be an emphatic particle. The actual entry was based, as stated, on Roy Miller's notes for the particular piece of text. On the assumption that Roy Miller may be correct, I made the submission. If Roy Miller is correct, then perhaps it should be included. I would quite understand Name's broad observation if the site is to be an esoteric vehicle for scholars. However, the site beckons the novice with much useful information and, depending upon policy, it seems a pity to redirect the novice elsewhere when your site holds the promise to be the "one-stop for all" where the Japanese language is concerned. Anyway, as I say, it is a matter of policy. Meantime, all comments are greatly appreciated. It is an interesting learning curve. |
