| Comment | Perhaps this could be upgraded. Quite a few Google hits + Roy Miller (51) gives the above translation and reading.
This is another one of those cases where many dictionaries give the first two kanji, but the third, although included in examples, carries no reading and the novice is wondering whether it is "きん" or some other option. I appreciate that suffixes and prefixes pose a problem with high volume, but with a good range of them included for ordinary everyday expressions it is much easier for the novice to get the mode of usage; which usage may also apply to all the less used expressions. In any event, to put it another way, it is much better for the novice to make a blunder with less used expressions, than it is to make a blunder on the everyday stuff. |
