| Comment | With reference to Name's comment that "Meaning is obvious to someone who knows Japanese... but might be confusing to an early learner, thus the need for an entry," I should just like to add the comment that the confirmation of the reading is also of much value to the novice.
It is often quite a plague for the novice to be sure about what reading to use. It is also a problem, when dictionaries are based upon readings, as opposed to kanji, to know where to start the search, especially when - as often happens - the word is not actually in the dictionary being used. More and more of this thinking would be greatly appreciated. |
