New Entries/Amendments for 2010-02-01

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Anyway, I can't find it in refs and Googling doesn't produce much evidence.

???/RH/
Headword 1
Reading 1
Part-of-speech?
English 1???
English 2RH
ReferenceSee below.
CommentI think you once stated that RHs are often removed with a sweep by the system, which picks up duplicates, every now and again; or something like that.

In the above entry, I believe that the reading is wrong and therefore it would not be removed by a sweep. See the following entry:-

The RH could therefore be deleted.

I was actually trying to search for フランス大革命, but that did not seem to come up as one string.

CommentI know that there is a big reluctance to add "も" on to entries.

Other than question words, in the normal usage, "も" would seem to imply something like, "also, too,", but in this case it seems to imply nothing more than perhaps a little emphasis. Google hits run into the millions for the two strings and the novice may be searching for the difference between "さえ" and "すら" with the "も" and without the "も", but nothing in general would make particular sense.

In general, my references do not show "も" added, but 研究社 does show "さえ"both with and without the "も" in its entries. It gives the meaning as the same for both, namely: as your translation 1. Thus, from that, I conclude that if the addition of the "も" adds anything, it is only a degree of emphasis.

If this submission were to be accepted, then it would allow a successful search for "さえも" and "すらも" and the removal of a nagging thought that the meaning may be different from that simply stated by 研究社.

Editorial Comment Inflected form of 模する, which is already an entry. No evidence for まねする as a reading.
