| Comment | I am not making an amendment to the above, rather I am drawing attention to the following:-
生ずる 【しょうずる】 (vz,vi) to cause; to arise; to be generated; (P) My dictionaries indicate that "生ずる" and "生じる" have identical meanings. Also Roy Miller [36(2)] states that both have the same meaning, but that "生ずる" is more literary than "生じる." He also makes a note that the latter is the reading which is found in many dictionaries. He also states that the meaning is more or less the equivalent of "生まれる." I am, therefore, wondering whether you may consider the merits of combining the entries for "生ずる" and "生じる" with a note about the literary difference. Further, whether you may consider that a cross-reference between these readings and also "生まれる" may help a novice to co-ordinate these readings and develop some greater understanding about the relationship within the framework of this character. |
