CommentI have added in "上釉". This gets some 2k Google hits on a general search and some 42k hits on the images. It appears in text and it is noted by Roy Miller [41].

If you accept this submission, then the following could perhaps be deleted:-

上釉 【?】 overglaze; WI2
上釉をかける 【?】 (vt) to overglaze; WI4

Headword 1銅釉

Reading 2どうぐすり

ReferenceSee below.
CommentDepending upon the search, sometimes it picks up just under 3k Google hits, sometimes it picks up over 8k. I wonder why that would be!

It appears in text in Roy Miller's reader, but [unless I have missed it] he seems to skip over the reading and explanation; which may mean one of several things: perhaps it is so obvious or perhaps it is not so obvious or perhaps it is a simple slip in my failing to find it.

However, the Google searches seems to make the meaning clear, as do the characters themselves. As for the reading, searches throw up both of the readings which I have shown above, but it seems that "どうゆう" is the more frequent.

Editorial Comment OK. The どうぐすり reading is bogus. The pages that mention it say it is wrong.

Editorial Comment You didn't make the senses clear. Do you mean that "on the ... side" and following are also suffixes? Also is "(pre) semi-" not just a case of it being an adverb (with に omitted, as often happens)?

Headword 1強いため
Reading 1つよいため
Part-of-speechn
CommentThe given example is served far better if the meaning "prevalent" is added to つよい. There is already an entry for ため. The analysis given for つよいため is false, it's not just "due to".

In effect, the example sentence means:
(低価格競争を繰り広げているの) is because being first leads to victory in the marketplace is a prevalent viewpoint in the industry.

Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment Perhaps making 強いため mean "strongly resulting from" or something like that. I don't think "prevalent" works for 強い.
