Current Entry高度化 [こうどか] /(n,vs) {comp} to increase speed/ (2356670)
Headword 1高度化
Reading 1こうどか

English 1{comp} to increase speed
English 2to enhance functionality
Reference * kotobank

* 拡張 (高度化)とは

すでにあるものの機能を高めること。
CommentThe existing translation above (to increase speed) seemed to have too narrow a meaning for the context in which I came across 高度化, so I Googled it and found the above reference for "拡張 (高度化)". I wonder, however, if 高度化 is context dependent and could potentially mean almost any type of significant improvement, not just in speed or function.

Editorial Comment Agreed. Extended it quite a bit.

Current Entryカヌー /(n) canoe/(P)/ (1037930)
Headword 1カヌー
Part-of-speechn
English 1small pleasure boat that is rowed or paddled (e.g. canoe or kayak)

CommentJapanese speakers are commonly collapsing canoe and kayak into one word カヌー
but that does not change the reality on the ground, ;-) and in in the rest of the
world people distinguish canoes from kayaks the same way we distinguish lions
from tigers (both for rather obvious reasons, methinks)...

Editorial Comment No, it stays that way. Gradually the "vs" bits are being broken out into separate senses. See: http://www.edrdg.org/wiki/index.php/Editorial_policy#English_Meanings where I have explained this a bit.
