Jim Breen's Ukiyo-E Gallery - Shunsho

Katsukawa Shunsho was one of a group of artists who modelled their style on the trend established by Suzuki Harunobu. As was often the case in the late 18th century, he concentrated on portraits of actors.

This print is of the actor Ichikawa Yaozo, and dates from the 1760s.
